COVID-19 Related Issues – Update #4 - Event Cancelled
(6/9/20)

Since its inception, the Long Island Lacrosse Showcase strives to deliver the premier recruiting event for the student-athletes of Nassau and Suffolk counties in the safest possible environment. As we stated from the beginning of this pandemic, the safety and well-being of the players, coaches, parents, and spectators would be our paramount concern in conducting this event. The recent decision to postpone the event to July would provide the opportunity conduct the event in such a manner.

However, as we formalized a July event using the guidance established by the CDC, US Lacrosse, and preliminary protocols from New York State, it has become clear that conducting competitive lacrosse events in the summer of 2020 is not possible. Therefore, we have made the decision to cancel the 2020 Long Island Lacrosse Showcase. We will be issuing full refunds to all registered players.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this difficult spring. We hope that you and your families stay safe during the summer of 2020.

COVID-19 Related Issues – Update #3
(6/2/20)

We hope that you and your family are doing well as we begin to re-open and restart our daily routines as part of the NY Forward initiative. Since the Long Island region has begun its move towards normalizing our lives, the target date for our region to enter Phase 4, and the return to athletic activities is in early July. As such, it is our hope that we can hold the Long Island Lacrosse Showcase if we can satisfy all ‘return to play’ protocols required by local and state authorities.

Below is the updated schedule for the Long Island Lacrosse Showcase:

  • July 9First Round – All Suffolk County Rising Classes – Times TBD

  • July 10First Round – All Nassau County Rising Classes – Times TBD

  • July 14Final 50 Games – Times TBD

  • July 16LI Lacrosse Showcase Games – Nassau vs. Suffolk – Times TBD

Our ability to host this event will be based on the following:

Safety: Since the developments surrounding this pandemic are evolving each day, we are continually monitoring the guidance and regulations provided by the governor’s office, the NY State Department of Health, the Suffolk County Department of Health, and the Nassau County Department of Health. Any decision to conduct the Long Island Lacrosse Showcase will be based upon these agencies’ recommendations and guidance.

Facilities: There are also some factors that are out of our control, primarily the securing of facilities to hold the event. Local school districts and municipalities will determine the availability of fields based on their own criteria and policies. We are exploring all contingency possibilities and will provide updates as they develop.

Refunds:

  • If for any reason, the event does not take place this summer we will offer a full refund.

  • If a player cannot attend the event because of a conflict with the rescheduled dates, the player will receive a full refund if it is requested 2 weeks prior to commencement of Round 1 of the event.

  • “No-shows” to Round 1 are not entitled to refunds.

  • There will not be any refunds (full or partial) once a player has participated in any round of this year’s event.

COVID-19 Related Issues – Update #2
(5/21/20)

Since the Long Island Region has not been able to move into Phase 1 of the NY FORWARD reopening of the state, we have temporarily postponed our 2020 event. We are currently planning to conduct the event in July, but that is predicated on the Long Island region reopening. Until the region is given to approval to begin reopening it is impossible to provide specific dates in July for the event.

We appreciate your patience as we hope that our region can begin the NY FORWARD reopening soon.

COVID-19 Related Issues – Update #1
(4/22/20)

The directors of the Long Island Lacrosse Showcase wish to extend our best wishes that you and your family are safe and healthy during these unprecedented times. We are all local high school educators and coaches, and our paramount concern is the safety and well-being of the student-athletes.

Although all spring sports have been cancelled on Long Island, we have kept our original dates in place with the outside hope that our plans can remain as they are, however these may change based on very fluid circumstances. We are currently formulating a contingency plan to hold the event in July, if necessary.

Here are some things we would like you to update you on at this time:

Dates: If the date is changed to later in the summer, we will ensure that the Long Island Lacrosse Showcase will take place in alignment with the NCAA Recruitment Calendar. The event will not be moved to any weekend dates. We will not hold any part of the event on days college coaches are not permitted to attend due to NCAA restrictions.
