The Inaugural Metzer Cup Games
The 2021 Long Island Lacrosse Showcase culminated with the Inaugural Metzger Cup Games on Friday, July 2nd. The winners of each Nassau versus Suffolk game were presented with the Metzger Cup by benefactor James Metzger of the Whitmore Group.

The Most Valuable Players of each contest were also presented with their trophies by Metzger.

Mr. James Metzger has been an ardent supporter of lacrosse on Long Island for many years. A former Ray Enners Award winner as the best high school lacrosse player in Suffolk County, James has devoted a great deal of his time to recognize and honor the student-athletes of Long Island.
Rising Freshmen Class of 2025 – Mike Chin of Herricks High School. Nassau beat Suffolk 18-4.
Rising Freshman Class of 2025 – Midfielder Owen Wuchte of Garden City High School scored five goals in Nassau’s 18-4 over Suffolk.
Rising Seniors Class of 2022 – Attackman Joey Spallina of Mount Sinai High School (four goals and four assists) and goalie Luke Lamendola of Northport High School (10 saves, second half) were co-MVPs in Suffolk’s 15-11 win over Nassau.
